CESPHN has been able to facilitate access for 289 participants to undertake ASIST and Safetalk training. Both are training modules developed by Living Works which provides unique, evidence-based training that empowers individuals, organisations and communities to work together to help keep people safer from suicide. To date we have held 14 training sessions attended by people who may not have otherwise developed these crucial skills. Community members who work outside of mental health or community services in occupations such as bar staff, electrical trade, legal aid and diversity services.
Everyone who participated in the training was offered the opportunity to participate in a follow up online Network of Safety group to ensure learnings were supported beyond the prescribed training sessions and support was available to individuals who were putting their skills into practice.
